LEADERSHIP SERIES FOR SUCCESSFUL LIVING

“For things to change, first I must change.” I’m sure that at some point of time in our leadership journey, or life, for that matter, things don’t turn out as we hope they would. It could have been a boss who seem to be entirely unaware that you have been overworked. It could be a subordinate who misinterpret an instruction and goes on to mess up the show. whichever the case, you certainly wished that the ‘someone’ would behave differently. Here’s the point which separates leaders from followers. Ninety percent of the people would go on to blame others. They sulk and complain and whine about their circumstance. They really wish and hope that the ‘someone’ would turn for the better, yet take no action to improve the status quo. These people are called followers; they lack the power to create change. Ten percent of the people would recognise that whose fault it is is besides the point; they understand that they have the power to take action to improve the condition. These people are called leaders. The notion of leadership implies that there must be leaders and subordinates. Too often, we get caught up in the ‘subordinates’ portion of the equation, the people we lead and manage. If we’d just, for some time, turn our attention to ourselves and notice how much better we can become, if we’d just invest a little more in our selves. In “A Leadership Series for Successful Living” program, Dr. Orison Swett Marden, the Anthony “Tony” Robbins of his time, shares with us how we can first, manage ourselves, in order to become more successful in managing others. A MUST have for leaders and managers!
